Thank you for taking the time to stop by.
If you’ve ended up here, I imagine you’re either a fellow Nurse Medic or someone who knows one.
About a decade before I moved into medicine, I worked in graphic design and helped businesses develop logos and advertising media. Years later, while attending the Nursing Program at Tyler Junior College in Texas and getting close to graduation, I started looking for something to mark the occasion, some kind of symbol to recognize the accomplishment I had worked so hard for.
I searched high and low. And found… nothing.
It turns out Nurse Medics are a fairly new breed.
We’re providers who bring all that PTSD — cough, I mean “experience” — with us when we step into the next phase of our careers.
Even as I transitioned into nursing, I never wanted to forget where I came from. I love EMS and the brothers and sisters who work in it. Nursing offered an opportunity to grow academically — and yes, financially — but EMS will always be part of who I am.
As someone who takes pride in the journey, I felt that a patch representing the merge of these professions would be a fitting way to recognize the achievement.
So I started researching the origins of medical symbols — the crosses, the staffs, and the history behind them — and eventually began building a design that represented both worlds.
And just like that…
A new symbol was born.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
And to those who serve in medicine and emergency care
Thank you for what you do.
With Great Respect, Mrs. Nurse Medic
